2010 Creative Hands-On Summer Camps

About the Camps

Sam the SPLAT DogSPLAT Studio is pleased to introduce our mascot, "Sam the SPLAT Dog".  He was created by Meghan's son, Alex, a couple of years ago and "Sam" has been eager to escape the pages of the drawing tablet and meet all the people who visit the studio looking to express their creativity and have some fun making artful objects.

Sam is a spirited dog with a nose for all things that inspire a freedom to explore new techniques and materials.  So he is going on an excursion this summer to sniff out some exciting arts and crafts made by people from around the world.  At times, Sam may bring back with him music, games, movies and original works of art that are true tail waggin' opportunities to motivate the kids to see their world and the art they make in a new way.

At SPLAT, we encourage spirited people of all ages to learn artfulness together, so we, the SPLAT Team, have prepared a little game called, "Where in the world did Sam the SPLAT Dog go?"

Each school age camp description will have "clue words" that will be underlined so that kids can help participate in the fun from the get-go.  Kids are welcome to use a  book, grown-up or search engine (Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc.), to help them figure out what C ountry Sam may be visiting.  If they come to camp the first day with a possible answer, we will have a prize waiting for them.

All the camps have been designed to provide the kids with structured activities that are age appropriate and develop artistic concepts.  The focus will be on cultivating individual creativity and the art process will be emphasized along with developing techniques and practical skills.

For safety and fun:  Please dress for a mess and wear closed toed shoes.

We can't wait for you to begin the adventure!
