10 Week Mixed Medium Class

Ages 10 & Up

The motivation behind this class is to offer kids who love making things an opportunity to develop and expand the skills and concepts they learn in school as well as their own natural inclination to express themselves visually.  Similar to The Art of Reading offered for younger children, the goal for this class is to develop the child's visual literacy skills and hands-on experience with a variety of art media (art materials).

By giving kids a two hour block of time to work, think and develop their ideas, it is the intent that they will grow in confidence in how they choose to articulate themselves creatively.  Many visual images such as artwork, pictures and everyday objects will be used as a catalyst to stimulate the kids to critically look, think and consider how art is made.  Students will be encouraged to consider the principals of art such as line, shape and color and the elements of design like center of interest and balance.

Projects for the Spring session will include drawing, screen printing, paper engineering and more.
